Guardian on line - 5th March 2009 - EcoSheet, a recycled alternative to plywood
The Guardian names "Ecosheet" as one of "five great ideas from the world's biggest green building show (Ecobuild) to quote: "Flogging a plywood substitute to the construction industry might score low on eco-chic, but this recycled plastic sheeting, made entirely from old mixed pvc free plastic, is something of a wonder product. It's tough, lighter than ply, impermeable to water, ideal for hoardings and concrete formworks and at the end of it's useful life makers 2K Manufacturing will come and pick it up, turn it into new boards and offer a rebate on future orders. Still not wowed? You can paint on it, cut it using standard carpentry tools and it boosts much-maligned plastic recycling schemes."
12th January 2009 - 2K Manufacturing is pleased to announce a multi-stage funding agreement with Foresight Group, a leading environmental investor, to support a multi-site rollout of plastics recycling facilities. The company will manufacture an environmentally friendly plywood substitute board for the construction industry. Foresight has supported a £5million funding package to open the first facility during 2009 as part of a larger framework agreement with Foresight to support rapid expansion of the company.
20th November 2007 - Building Magazine Sustainability Awards Winner for Innovative Technology - Contractor Bovis Lend Lease is not content with driving up standards of waste minimisation and site efficiency. It has pressed ahead with creating a really smart way of recycling a commonly used site material – plywood. The category’s winning concept Re-Plas – short for Recycled Plastic Board - is the sustainable replacement to the traditional five million sheets of plywood hoardings used on constructions sites across the UK per year.
