Potential UK Market
The UK construction industry is vast: its output is worth almost £100B a year. It accounts for over 9% of GDP, and employs almost 2 million people in over 200,000 different firms. However, buildings are also responsible for almost half of UK carbon emissions, half of water consumption, about one third of all landfill waste and 13% of all raw material used in the UK economy. The latest DTI Construction Statistics (2007) can be found at the foot of this page. Likewise the statistics for veneered sheet including plywood are attached below. The potential size of the sub markets is indicated by the 2007 total market for flat sheet which at page 8 of the report is reported for the UK at £1,690 million including imports.

Business Model
ERT's Business model is to license PIM production and provide technical support in return for fees and royalties. The license model works on the basis of a minimum annual royalty. This is attractive to organisations that understand the potential for the production, their specialist market places and also know of the distribution and supply chain. Technical support can be provided via Arup (www.Arup.com) with whom ERT has a partnership agreement. ERT is now looking for further commercial partners to take different products to market. There is a positive climate for innovation with the low cost of raw materials in this sector and advice from WRAP that it is better to recycle than landfill or incinerate. ERT will offer the folowing services to any interested business or consortium:
- A business plan for both UK and overseas.
- Facilitate the design, build and operation of the process and plant
- Broker meetings with potential customers from major projects such as London 2012 to major retailers serving both the trade and the public (all of whom have been alerted to the potential of PIM technology ).
For example on 5th January 2010 ERT announced that it had granted a global production licence to 2K Manufacturing Limited (2K) for the manufacture of eco-sheet...........This follows an assessment of their business model whereby 2k now wants to take full advantage of the worldwide value of the 'Ecosheet' brand. 2k will pay ERT a total of £2 million in instalments over the next three years by way of licence fees with credit being given for the sums already paid (£320,000) for licences already granted..........Omer Kutluoglu, CEO of 2k, said - 'It has become increasingly apparent that brand awareness will be a major factor in our development which has led us (with the help of our partners) to the decision that we must accelerate our international roll-out. ERT has been very supportive of our plans and as momentum increases we look forward to working even more closely with ERT.' More.........
